I’m no slave to fashion trends but there are some styles I see on people that speak to me. Wide-leg trousers (pants for you Aussies and North Americans) have been really popular this summer. I think I’m the only one that doesn’t own a pair.
While I admire the look on others, it’s not one I would willingly wear. I generally gravitate towards the skinny jeans section in stores and stay away from anything baggy. I feel I don’t have the right “commodity” to rock the baggy style. I do love maxi dresses though but as far as trousers are concerned, skinny is the only style for me.
I figured since I make clothes now, why not sew a pair of wide-leg trousers before the trend passes me by? I found the perfect easy-to-sew pattern. Simplicity 8134. The instructions were similar to the ones from the shorts I made last week. Peep that look here. The pattern doesn’t come with pockets but I added to mine because I love everything with pockets.
Fabric is Ankara. I was a bit hesitant about the orangey brightness but I like the design. Here’s the finished look.
If you want to try this style but can’t get a hold of the pattern, here’s a handy Youtube tutorial from Nadira037 with steps on making wide-leg trousers.
So how do you like your trousers? Wide-leg or skinny? Please let me know what you think about mine.
Thanks for dropping by.
