Hello everyone! I hope you’ve all been fabulous. It’s been a busy few weeks for me. I started making a jacket after my last project (this duster coat) but I had to pause due to other pressing demands. If there’s any garment I’d love to learn to sew as quickly as possible, it will be jackets and blazers.
I have two gorgeous, slightly fitted Marks & Spencer blazers that I bought way back and have refused to let anyone “borrow.” I would love to recreate more of the style in any fabric. They are both unlined and could be easy enough to sew but I’m not confident with how to draft the patterns yet.
In my quest for something easy to begin with, I went through the catalogs at the fabric store and came out with a jacket pattern from Vogue.
And viola! I have a me-made jacket.
Pattern: Vogue 9011, view B. This is an unlined, loose-fitting jacket.
Skill level: the pattern is in the “very easy” Vogue range. It was definitely not very easy for my first attempt though. It’s a great project for the confident beginner.
Any modification: No. Sewn as instructed.
Fabric: Ankara from my stash.
