Are You A Somebody Online?

I searched my name on Google during one of my vanity moments. There is a word for this self-googling. Ego-surfing.

Whether it’s a case of self-absorption or a security check of how much of your personal information is out there, ego-surfing is popular.  I'm sure you've probably done it.

If you haven’t, do it now! Find out what your name turns up. Try using quotation marks for exact results.

What did you find?

Are you a somebody online?

An important somebody that can go places and easily get a visa solely based on a Google search of your name? Yes, there's actually someone that this supposedly happened to.

Anyway, in my process of ego-surfing, I found all kinds of references to my name. Floral water. Aromatic herb. All sorts that had nothing to do with me.

I decided that I wanted to claim my name and stamp my presence in cyberspace. Before someone else decides to take it and make it about herbal water.

You can expect exciting things ahead now that I've moved to my permanent address.

Happy 2016!

  1. Hi Lady,

    Lol @ Herbal Water.

Congrats on the new domain name, it is so bright and shiny, I had to wear sunglasses to read this post. :-)

I did that claiming with my blog name, as insurance in the event that a garment making business materializes some day.

Meanwhile, I once did a google search of my own name, turns out a young American male who played college football in Utah has the exact name. Ah! the joys of having a unisex name.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. I search for myself on Google from time to time. It's considered great career advice- you want to make sure potential employers like what they find about you. My searches mostly bring up my blog. I'm happy with that.

    1. Hi,

Yes, having a presence online helps with potential employers. My search now brings up my blog not just references of water, colours and spices.

      Thanks for visiting!
